Since moving to Vegas, Lake Mead has become my favorite spot to sit and quietly enjoy nature. This specific spot, rarely visited by anyone but a few local fishermen, is where I watch coyotes fish, herons and pelicans wade, and osprey and hawks circle above. It’s easy to forget you are in the desert, and in Fall, the turning leaves contrast perfectly against the often improbably blue water. As drought assaults the Lake, I only hope that this special oasis isn’t lost.
